The Constitutional Constituency: An Online Patriot Gathering
Everybody has a constituency. The Republicans have theirs, the Democrats have theirs, and on it goes!
Well, the founding principles of our country as expounded in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution needs a constituency too! Someone who believes in them. Someone who will stand up and defend them. Someone that will insist we return to them as our founding first principles for today. That's what we are about!
We love the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, as originally intended.
If our elected officials would abide by those first principles of good government, it would not matter which party held the majority because our founding documents are neither Republican nor Democrat. No, they are non-partisan and Constitute the American founding.
So we are first and foremost constituents of the founding documents which constitute our country hence the name, The Constitutional Constituency.
Our aim is to promote and discuss the founding principles of our country, to point out wherein we have strayed from them, because how else can we point the way back, if we do not know from what we've strayed?
We've wandered so far from the idea the Founders intended that we believe many Americans don't even realize what that is any longer, but if they did, they would agree it is the best direction for our country, and when they realize it is the best course to take, the chorus of voices will grow ever louder for returning to true Constitutional government, a government "Of, By, and For the People" as originally intended.
I leave you with this quote:
Founding Father Joseph Warren: Our streets are filled with armed men our harbors with ships of war but do not despair, our liberty is too great and there are too many of us who seek to be free. On you depend the fortunes of America, act worthy of yourselves.
It's still not too late. Please join us, if you will, in this effort. Thank you!

About the Mount Vernon Statement
In light of the challenges facing the country and the need for clarity in the age of Obama, The Mount Vernon Statement, modeled on the Sharon Statement issued on Sept. 11, 1960, is a defining statement of conservative beliefs, values and principles penned by a broad coalition of conservative leaders representing a wide spectrum of the movement including fiscal, social, cultural and national security conservatives.

We the People therefore propose the following:
1. There shall be term limits on all public servants in Federal office. The Senate may serve 2 six year terms, and the House 3 total 2 year terms as usual, with elections for the House every 2 years, and the Senate elections shall remain the same as usual.
2. We agree that no one should have a "golden parachute" retirement having mismanaged peoples investments, sinking them further into debt and immorally condemning their children's children to poverty before they are even born!
This is too generous for such scoundrels:
Upon retirement, elected officials shall enter the private sector with a pension equal to the average monthly amount our seniors receive on Social Security.
They may also choose between paying for private health-care insurance, or the current PUBLIC option, Medicare. If it's good enough for the People, it's good enough for them, right?
3. No one having held public office in the Federal Government may be a lobbyist of the same upon retirement, PERIOD!
4. Senators and Congressmen may only switch parties within 90 to 120 days of the next scheduled PRIMARY election, and not AFTER election in any event. We believe to do otherwise is a betrayal of the voters that put them in office.
5. We the People are also in support of the "Enumerated Powers Act" (HR450). This bill requires that "Each act of Congress shall contain a concise and definite statement of the constitutional
authority relied upon for the enactment of each portion of that act". We urge everyone to contact their Representative and let them know you want them to support this Bill. Thank you to Patriots Post for this one!

6. WE should have a ballot initiative every 4 years that would reflect our pleasure/displeasure with the job our Senators/Representatives are doing. Thanks to "Corey" for this one. This is part of the idea of where we're ultimately headed with the action we're taking to establish that We the People have the Right to dismiss them from office "whenever".
7. Purge ALL voter rolls, and set a day one month in advance of the next election for all to come register. If we can elect a President, Senate, and House of Representatives in a day, then we can also accomplish voter registration in a day. There is so much corruption in the voting process, we need to start with cleaning up the rolls.
We the People reserve the right to add and amend these as time and circumstance may reveal the need for modification, in response to corruption or other misdeeds of our elected officials.
